Thank you every one who took part in any of the Wareham Carnival Events of July 2009.
The weather was good to us and everyone seemed to be having a great time.
A special thank you to all who helped on the day and all who took part in the procession as well as to all the supporters who watched, donated and joined in the fun.
Looking forward to next year and hoping to see you all then, details will be on this site as soon as they are available.
WE are half way through the week and have had three fantastic events with a cracking turn out for all of them. The quiz had some real brain teasers at Harrys with a packed bar full of teams all joining in well done to the winners.
The murder mystery had a right seedy bunch of suspects, and everyone from ten year olds to some of our sprightly grey haired sleuths and any age between. trying to put the murderer where she belonged (in the hands of the boys in blue thanks chaps for joining in the fun).
Tonight (wed) I have just come back from the car and walking Treasure Hunts, and once again a cracking time was had by all.
So far this has shown the realy great fun side of Wareham every age group has joined in and it has been better for that. If the rest of the week is like this BRING IT ON and come and join us.

Last night didn't go to well for me, as the people of Wareham decided to work out who had murdered Von Limburger.
They all met at 7:30 and proceeded to walk around Wareham meeting all the suspects along the way (including myself)
They met some very interesting characters including Will E Drywall - the local builder, Davina Double Diamond - the landlady/white witch of the town, Sue Ridgepipe - the sewer cleaner and of course myself, Penny Cillin, the local apothacrist and cleaner.
We all finally ended up at the Quay Inn and the murderer was revealed....
And it was me! I thought I had got away with it!!
You see, I had laced my homemade candles with arsenic and placed several in Von Limbergers study as I was cleaning it and he had died from being poisoned by their fumes.
Well, then the Wareham police turned up and arrested me on the grounds of murderer and then proceeded to push me into the back of their van and take off down to the station. I was dressed in a prison suit and they took pictures of me with a board with my name on - it was quite scary!!
They then clamped a ball and chain on my leg and bundled me back into the van to be delivered back at the Quay Inn.
Don’t think I will be murdering anyone again soon....

i have lived in wareham all off my life and enjoyed and looked forward to carnival time but in the past few years i have noticed that the kids only have the fun fair at the rec to go to that will cost all the parents money that goes to the wrong people. we always used to look forward to the pram race and many other activities that was always in the carnival including music on the quay and it was always a week full off fun for all and always put money into the local community can i just ask where is the fun for all the locals and children that will at the moment remember that wareham carnival is just a procession and quick flip upto the rec after. Please can you start to think about putting things back into the programe that was always a wareham tradition.
As one of the Carnival Committee, I can only comment on what we are trying to do this year. We are again running a week of events I'm sure you have seen these on the programme, trying to go back to how the carnival has worked in the past. Unfortunately many of the old type activities are no longer possible due to the current insurance cost. These include many of the activities you and many others have enjoyed in the past including Tug of War, Pram races and Raft races across the river, the Carnival Committee are very sorry that we are no longer able to do these and wish we could. If anyone would like to sponsor any of these events in future for insurance then we will gladly put them back into the carnival. Please contact us if you are able.
We have not organised the fair at the rec although I believe it is still happening but not as part as 2009's Carnival event.
Please support Wareham Carnival 2009 in the week of 13-19 July.
Is there going to be Blues Brothers and fireworks at the Quay on the saturday night?? that has to be back to basics!!! it always was the blues brother dropped off by wareham police!!
Programme for 2009 looks good - we like the 'back to basics' theme. Let's just hope the weather is kind and as many people as possible support the events. We could all do with a bit of old-fashioned fun. We're pleased to note there will be a fairground again this year on the Rec from the Thursday to the Sunday, as it attracts a bigger crowd. If it's true and more people are holidaying in UK this year, we should have lots of holidaymakers wanting to join in the fun, even if the locals don't!
PS The photo gallery is a bit lean for 2008 and the slider bar for each individual year does not work
We have lots of new photos for 2008, I just need to get them to our website administrator, this should be done over the next few days - so look out for the 2008 photo update

Blues Brothers?
The Blues Brothers (Wareham Branch) split several years ago. One went to America and Shaun is now in a band called Brass Monkeys.

Picture Gallery
I will be changing the whole format of the slide shows (I don't like that Flash display either). Also waiting, as Sue mentioned, for more pictures.
Good luck
