Harvest Fun & Frolics

Harvest Fun & Frolics

This fund-raising occasion, which took place at the Carey Hall, Wareham on Saturday 3rd October, certainly lived up to expectations. Members and their guests arrived to a Hall, beautifully laid out, with individual tables decorated with baskets of fruit & flowers., thanks to the artistry of Helen (Byrom) and greeted with the traditional sound of folk music, played by a group of our members, who in their other lives are keen Folk musicians, Morris dancers, Sword dancers and Mummers, to name just a few of their accomplishments!!

So many thanks are due:- To John Barclay, our MC, who added his own special brand of wit and humour to the evening : To Andy and Tracy Byrom, who ran the Bar and coped with their thirsty customers most efficiently: To our musicians, dancers and entertainers - Mike Button, Eddie Byrom, Helen & Steve Earwacker, Chris Hall, Steve Lillis, Roger Thrift and Dave Wheatley: To all the generous people and firms who donated raffle prizes and supported the actual Raffle during the evening, which raised the magnificent sum of £65.00. To those who stayed behind to help clear up and, of course, to all those of our members who supported this event by buying tickets, (even though in some cases, they were unable to actually attend,) and bringing along food to share in a delicious buffet supper. A splendid profit of £378 was realised.

Knowing how much work is involved in preparing such an event, (sorting a Programme, arranging entertainment, preparing and distribution of tickets and posters, preparation of Hall, wiring for sound etc.), plus a thousand and one other details, grateful thanks are due to the members of the Sub-Committee, who were responsible for such a great evening. i.e. Helen & Eddie Byrom, Jacquie & Chris Hall.
Thank you so much for all your work. Very well done!
